Tina Mitchell

Mrs. U.S. Ambassador 2013

"I remember well being a teen, I struggled with insecurities that were completely debilitating to me. When we add in troubles at home, and mental and physical health problems it can be pretty hard to live at your highest potential. I often felt alone in a crowded room, and didn't have the confidence to be who I truly was on the inside. While having insecurities as a teen is not uncommon, I didn't like how it made me feel. I didn't really know what I was capable of, and fell into what I call a Victim Mentality. I often said  'I can’t' to most every situation, and I honestly believed it. I let my outside circumstances, become my excuses of not achieving bigger and better things.

Then one day I asked the question 'What if? What if I can do all this stuff I daydreamed about my whole life, regardless of where I've been, what I've been through or what education I have received. What If I AM ENOUGH?'

I chose to change my mind, and continued to act as if I was already enough, over time, opportunities came into my life to reinforce my belief that I am truly enough. I learned I could CREATE my life, instead of letting it toss me around. I found a way to share with others, how I pulled myself out of this victim mentality."

As Youth attend Tina's motivational classes they are inspired to create positive productive lifestyles, even in the midst of adversity as they learn skills that will serve them for a lifetime, helping them see that they are not victims of their past, but victors of their future.
